CEO Jonathan Barnett Finds Success with Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning![]() Posted on October 25, 2010 by Stacey Fousse Lakewood, CO – Not many executives can say they accomplished much in their 20s. Jonathan Barnett, MBA and the founder of Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning®, however, can say this with pride. Noticing his passion for business early on, Barnett started three different successful businesses before the age of 30. Barnett started at Oral Roberts University in 1999, where he studied Business Administration. Even then, his entrepreneurial spirit could not be contained. In 2000, he opened his own summer business, "Johnny B's Fireworks," which helped him pay his way through school. He built the business and developed multiple locations, but then ended up selling his fireworks business when he graduated. Barnett played basketball for Oral Roberts during his undergraduate career, and created Crossover International, a non-profit basketball ministry that takes Christian athletes overseas to build relationships and play games against professional club teams. After completing graduate school at Colorado Christian University in 2005, he purchased a professional basketball franchise in the International Basketball League (IBL). Owning the Colorado Crossover for two seasons increased his interest in franchising, so after graduate school, he set out to start his newest business venture – Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning. When asked why he chose carpet cleaning, Barnett said, "In graduate school, I discovered that carpet cleaning companies were netting millions a year – and I knew there was a better and greener way to clean carpets. This motivated me to create a successful, national brand." In 2006, Barnett founded Oxi Fresh Franchising Co. Using innovative products and technology, Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning® offers oxygen powered cleaning, which cleans all the way down to the bottom of the carpet pile with a dry time of only one hour. By 2009, he had over 134 franchises in 37 states. In 2010, the Franchise Business Review ranked Oxi Fresh #7 in their Franchisee Satisfaction Awards. "Oxi Fresh started as a local carpet cleaner and has expanded into a national award-winning carpet cleaning franchise that has succeeded despite difficult economic times," said Barnett. "This is not just because of the 'green' approach to carpet cleaning services, but due to our team and franchisees, who have worked hard to keep the Oxi Fresh brand a growing and strong force in the carpet cleaning industry."
