CFA rails against Paycheck Fairness Act, urges Senators to vote against it![]() Posted on November 15, 2010 by Franchise Gator Admin Legislation passed in our nation's capital can often have an immediate impact on franchisees from coast to coast. In order to advocate for their positions, many franchisees join groups that lobby for laws which would benefit them and against laws which would cause them harm.In one of the most recent examples, the Coalition of Franchisee Associations, or the CFA, recently asked its members to get in touch with their local senators in order to ask them to vote against the Paycheck Fairness Act, S. 182, Blue Mau Mau reports. The leader of the CFA's government relations arm, Misty Chally, said that the new legislation would put more of a burden on franchises, because they say frivolous cases of discrimination would be able to go on and harm the industry. The legislation, which has already passed the House of Representatives, seeks to make the workplace more fair for women and minorities. "Artificial barriers to the elimination of discrimination in the payment of wages on the basis of sex continue to exist decades after the enactment of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 U.S.C. 201 et seq.) and the Civil Rights Act of 1964," the bill states.
