CKE restaurants raise money for cancer awareness

Posted on November 03, 2010 by Stacey Fousse

Thanks to recent efforts, a food franchise has been able to hook up with a fundraising campaign in order to raise more than $1 million for breast cancer awareness.

CKE Restaurants said in a statement recently that it had reached the milestone through a three-week fundraiser this past spring at all Carl's Jr. and Hardee's locations throughout the United States. The funds raised went to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, after customers donated $1 for which they would get the opportunity to personalize a Happy Star. The star would then be displayed inside the franchise in order to highlight the donation and encourage others to do the same

"The loyal customers of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's have stepped up once again and given generously in support of breast cancer awareness and the National Breast Cancer Foundation," said Andrew F. Puzder, chief executive officer of CKE Restaurants. "We could not be more proud of our guests, as well as our dedicated franchisees and staff."

Carl's Jr. was in the headlines recently after coming out with a foot-long cheeseburger sandwich. The sandwich includes three hamburgers, three slices of cheese, lettuce, pickles and tomatoes.
