Chicago to host franchise convention

The Windy city is home to the Cubs, Bulls, Bears and White Sox and thanks to a recent announcement, it will soon be home to some major-league franchising opportunities.

The Franchise and Business Opportunities Expo will be coming to Chicago on September 11 and 12, 2010 at the Schaumburg Convention Center. The event will seek to match up franchises with those interested in starting their own business and becoming franchisees. It will bring a variety of different types of franchises all in one place to educate entrepreneurs hoping to learn more.

"With the summer coming to an end, potential investors are keen to look for new opportunities. We are thrilled to kick off our event season with this show allowing exhibitors to generate leads with these potential investors," states Leslie Lawrence, director of sales at National Event Management.

The Midwest Franchise Expo is a member of the International Franchise Association's supplier group.

The Midwest has been at the forefront of franchising success in recent years. An article published by the IFA indicated that the Midwest had more than 100,000 franchises and that these businesses had brought more than 1.5 million jobs to the region.

The IFA made headlines earlier this summer when it called on the U.S. Senate to reject the Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections Act (DISCLOSE), which requires new reporting for franchises endorsing political platforms or candidates.
