Converting struggling businesses in franchises is the latest trend![]() Posted on November 03, 2010 by Stacey Fousse For the thousands of people struggling to run a small business in the Untied States, the answer to their troubles may lie in a familiar place - franchising. Thanks to an annual event in California, those interested in learning more about becoming franchisees will have their chance at the International Franchise Association's West Coast Expo, taking place this week. Many in attendance will look toward the national brands in order to help out their business and become linked with a national advertising campaign and franchising experts provided by the company. One of the people that was able to convert his business into a successful franchise was Ernie Filice. According to an article in Business News Daily, Filice was able to turn his once independent business into a national employment franchise. “I don’t think I would have survived without the help of the franchise,” he said. “We’re able to operate as a small business by having the backing of a large company behind it. Now there’s a bit of accountability, which is a good thing. They like to say, ‘You’re still on your own, but you’re not by yourself.’” Though the economy has made it tough for many, it has also opened up the world of franchising like never before. Franchises of all types are looking for people from coast to coast to help spread the brand and earn a profit.
