DICKEY’S BARBECUE PIT EXPANDS IN NEW YORK![]() Posted on September 14, 2010 by Kel Sajid (CM) Fastest Growing Barbecue Chain Set To Open New Location in Rockville Centre (ROCKVILLE CENTRE, New York) Texas-based Dickey’s Barbecue, the largest barbecue chain in the country continues to grow as Aditya Sharma and Frank Gombocs of New York, sign on to open a new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit location. \"We are so excited Dickey’s will be in Rockville Centre,\" President of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Roland Dickey, Jr. said. \"As our company grows, we grow as a family. This is a great opportunity for our new partners and for the company.\" Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is well-known for their variety of hot pit-smoked barbecue meats, free ice cream and free big yellow cups. New Owner/Operators Sharma and Gombocs said the franchise’s quality barbecue and down-home feel will be a great addition their community. \"I have always loved Dickey’s and I know Rockville Centre will love it too,\" Sharma said. Since early 2009, Dickey’s has opened 70 stores and 20 are currently in development across the country. Many owner/operators are men and women who have never run their own business, but Dickey’s business model is structured for success. \"Dickey’s has a great business structure and with so many stores becoming or already so successful, I am confident my Dickey’s will do very well for us. I am just anxious to get started,\" the new Owner/Operators said. This seems to be the sentiment of all Dickey’s owner/operators. \"We have so many new owner/operators who are investing with us, some even using their life savings to open their own business. In this economy, we are glad people trust us for success and we certainly don’t take that for granted. Their victory is our victory and we don’t plan on going anywhere by up,\" Dickey said. With the unemployment rate at a frightening high, Dickey’s and their entrepreneurial partners are offering jobs to many and expanding when other businesses are shutting down. \"Our progress is surprising to a lot of folks, but it makes sense to us. People want to get out of the rat race,\" Dickey said. \"In turn, these new stores are employing hundreds of people who otherwise would be on unemployment.\" The first Dickey’s Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX. The original location is still open for business and Dickey’s Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family. Dickey’s only began franchising in 1994, now there are over 120 locations in 30 states. Even today, Dickey’s still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant. Committed to exceptional quality at a great value, Dickey’s Barbecue is unlike anything in the area, according to Sharma and Gombocs. Other franchise locations in New York include the Bronx.
