DQ franchise raises money for children![]() Posted on August 09, 2010 by Franchise Gator Admin A local Dairy Queen franchise in Plainville, New Jersey, has made headlines in recent days, not by creating delicious treats, but by supporting a good cause.MyCentralJersey.com reports that in recent weeks the chain celebrated the fifth annual Children's Miracle Network DQ Miracle Treat Day. The franchise donated $1 from every purchase of Blizzard drinks, all of which went to benefit the local Children's Specialized Hospital. The hospital works to help children with special needs in order to make them productive members of society. The franchise is consistently among the highest fund-raisers when it comes to charity work. "I'm not in competition with anyone. And there's no goal in mind, just to help," said franchise owner Joseph Albanese, in an interview with the news source. "We don't ask anyone for money, either, especially not with the way the economy is today. It (a large donation jar) is there, it's visible. So if they want to give, they give." The New Jersey franchise wasn't the only DQ making headlines for its charity work. A Dairy Queen in Wabash Valley, Illinois, recently raised money for the Riley Children's Hospital, myWabashValley.com reports.
