DirectBuy Club awards top achiever of 150 franchises at conference

DirectBuy Club franchise owners have named Cynthia Gutierrez the Gold Quarterly Champion out of a field of employees from more than 150 stores.
Gutierrez, a full-time college student in business administration, started at the San Bernardino DirectBuy Club store as a receptionist in 2007, and was promoted to product specialist in 2009. She helps customers search through manufacturer catalogues to find the right product.

At the May 2010 conference in Dallas, Texas, Gutierrez’s hard work was recognized.

Gutierrez said she learns something “every single day.”

“[M]any of our members I got to know fairly well as the receptionist. So I really take a lot of satisfaction out of helping somebody I’ve known for a long time,” she said.

Jani Sedaker, the owner of the San Bernardino DirectBuy Club franchise, is glad to have Gutierrez as a member of her team.

“It’s a testimony to her work ethic and character that she performs on such a high level, something that’s continuously pointed out by our members,” Sedaker said.

Gutierrez isn’t the only DirectBuy Club employee that goes beyond her job duties. In June, members of the DirectBuy Club call center staff in Johnson County, Kansas, volunteered their Saturday to help build a house for Habitat for Humanity.
