Franchises hope to attract customers with large sandwiches![]() Posted on July 26, 2010 by Franchise Gator Admin More and more franchises are offering unusual types of sandwiches to get customers in the doors. The latest sandwich introduction from one franchise represents a growing trend in the industry. At Hardee's restaurants in Indiana, they are currently selling a foot-long cheeseburger sandwich, which includes three hamburgers and three slices of cheese in addition to the diner's choice of lettuce, pickles or tomatoes, USA Today reports. According to one hamburger expert, when it comes to selling burgers to customers in the United States, bigger is better. "We live in a society that's fascinated with all things big," says Scott Hume, editor of BurgerBusiness.com, in an interview with the news source. "It's inherently American to push for something bigger and better than anyone else has." Hardee's sister chain, Carl's Jr., is also introducing a foot-long burger at 50 locations in Southern California, hoping to attract guests in the Golden State to the extreme burger meal. Hardee's has been in the news lately thanks to an all-star slugger. According to the St. Louis Business Journal, Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard was spotted eating at the restaurant with his son and girlfriend while in the city for a four-game series with the Cardinals.
