Franchises look to D.C. for growth![]() Posted on September 07, 2010 by Franchise Gator Admin The Washington, D.C., region has caught the eye of many franchise developers, giving potential franchisees the opportunity to get involved in a brand new business arena.One bagel franchise group run by James O'Reilly said that based on his organization's success in the area, he looked forward expanding his many franchises. "We have had a lot of success in the Greater Washington [area] and are looking to continue to grow with restaurateurs that are as excited about our brand as we are," said O'Reilly in an interview with the Washington Post. The news source reports that O'Reilly's company made $2 million from franchises in the region in the second quarter, 17 percent more than the same time last year. In addition, franchises like Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, have made public their intentions of expanding in the District. The franchise's COO told the news provider that the economic conditions should make finding a space to lease a lot easier than in previous years. People all over the United States have sought to open up their own franchises. Many find that the support and name recognition they receive from a larger parent company goes a long way in ensuring success.
