Hawaii coffee franchises recruit military veterans

Posted on November 17, 2010 by Stacey Fousse

Brands from coast to coast are honoring those who have served the country by giving them franchising opportunities at advantageous rates. By recruiting military veterans, many franchises are able to find successful business partners who have the leadership skills that they are looking for.

Maui Wowi Hawaiian is just the latest franchise to offer a discount to veterans through the International Franchise Association's VetFran program. Former military personnel from all branches of the armed services will be able to get a 10 percent discount on the franchise fee as they reintegrate into civilian life.

The leadership of Maui Wowi said in a statement that they were looking forward to rewarding those who had sacrificed on behalf of their country.

"Giving back to the men and women who have honorably served in our armed forces was an easy decision for Maui Wowi Hawaiian. Offering a franchise fee discount is just one of the ways we can show our gratitude and support," said Michael Haith, president of Maui Wowi Hawaiian. "Our veterans have earned the right to the American dream and the IFA VetFran program makes it easier for veterans to begin living that dream."

The coffee and smoothie is hardly the only brand to give veterans a chance to open up their own franchise. Kitchen Tune-Up recently announced that it would be waiving franchise fees for veterans interested in getting involved in the home improvement brand.
