Holiday promotions can increase franchisees' sales

Posted on October 28, 2010 by Stacey Fousse

Franchises can often take advantage of little-known national holidays that correspond directly to the products or services that they sell. By highlighting these obscure periods, franchisees can offer savings to customers and have a better chance of getting them inside their stores.

Among the more successful franchises to celebrate a week-long holiday has been Edible Arrangements. The franchise recently celebrated National Dipped Fruit Week from October 17-24. The franchise offered customers the opportunity to save on one of its most beloved items, a 12-piece box of dipped fruits for $10.

The box of dipped fruits, which normally goes for $25, gave those who have yet to experience the dipped flavors the chance to try something new and likely increased sales for franchisees around the country based on the $15 in savings that attracted those who may not have shopped at the stores otherwise.

"This is an incredible opportunity to try our famous chocolate-dipped fruit. Between strawberries, apples, pineapple, bananas and more, we have a great variety of delicious chocolate treats," said Steve Thomas, vice president of marketing for Edible Arrangements. "National Dipped Fruit Week at Edible Arrangements is just one more way to enjoy your favorite fruits and take advantage of early holiday savings."

No matter what the holiday, celebrations are a great promotional tool. Highlighting something that's not too well-known could help franchises everywhere increase sales.
