Introduction of new menu items is key to franchise profits

Posted on November 17, 2010 by Stacey Fousse

Variety is indeed the spice of life, and in recent years, no organizations have taken that old phrase to heart quite like franchises. By changing up their menus on a regular basis, these restaurants provide customers from all over the country with a good reason to return again and again.

Among the most successful franchises to take advantage of an ever-evolving menu has been Baskin-Robbins. Each month the ice cream franchise, famous for its wide variety of flavors, introduces a new flavor to customers, many of which correspond to a holiday taking place during the time period. For the month of November, Baskin-Robbins introduced a gingerbread inspired flavor in order to highlight the season of autumn.

"Premium Churned Light Gingerbread Man ice cream is the perfect late autumn flavor," said Brian O' Mara, Baskin-Robbins' vice president of marketing. "The combination of vanilla, cinnamon and caramel flavors are wonderful together or on their own, and the gingerbread flavor makes for a wonderful complement to any holiday dessert."

Baskin-Robbins has also introduced other treats during the month of November. The franchise re-introduced its turkey cake, which it says will "compliment any holiday feast."
