KFC gives money to cancer prevention charity![]() Posted on August 25, 2010 by Franchise Gator Admin A fast food franchise is giving the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundations 4.2 million reasons to smile, thanks to the most generous donation in the charity's history.KFC recently handed a check for $4.2 million to representatives from the cancer prevention organization. The donation was made possible with the help of its franchisees. From April to May, franchisees participated in the company's "Buckets for the Cure" fundraiser at some 5,000 locations around the country. Accepting the check on behalf of his organization was Mark Nadoiny, CFO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "'Buckets for the Cure' helped to reach hundreds of thousands of people with breast cancer information while raising funds for the research and community outreach programs that support women and men with breast cancer," said Nadolny. Independent franchise operators donated 50 cents from each bucket sold and the money collected will go toward educating people on the dangers of breast cancer as well as treatment programs. KFC made head news recently after it was officially listed as one of the companies on the U.S. Small Business Administration's franchise registry. The listing will give more franchising opportunities to those looking to get into the business.
