Liberty Tax named top franchise for African Americans

A leading tax preparation franchise was recently honored by Black Enterprise magazine for its efforts to help its African-American clients.

Liberty Tax Service was named as one of the "40 Best Franchises for African Americans" for its affordability, diversity and advertising support. The founder and CEO of Liberty Tax Service, John Hewitt, said that while the country continues to struggle through the recession, he was glad that his franchise could support those in need of help.

“We are honored by this accolade as we continue striving to keep the American dream of business ownership an affordable reality in these challenging economic times,” said Hewitt.

Liberty Tax Service has also gotten involved with the African-American community through its membership in MinorityFran. As part of the International Franchise Association Educational Foundation's Diversity Institute, MinorityFran seeks to increase the amount of minority franchise owners across the country.

According to its mission statement, MinorityFran is open to all IFA member companies that are committed to expanding opportunities for minorities in franchising at all levels – in employment, in franchise recruitment, and in vendor relations.
