Low-cost items are key to franchisee success![]() Posted on October 27, 2010 by Stacey Fousse As the economy tries to recover from the recession that began in 2008, many franchises have begun offering products and services in order to save customers money as many tighten their budgets. By offering money-saving deals, franchises help to solidify a loyal fan base and willl keep them coming back every year. One of the most recent franchises to take advantage of customers' desire for a low-cost product is Carl's Jr. The national fast-food chain recently introduced Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders for less than $5. The all-white meat chicken will be dipped in a buttermilk and egg batter, rolled in flour and deep fried. A three-piece order will cost customers $2.99, while a five-piece will cost $4.49. "We love to be able to give Carl’s Jr. customers a ‘wow’ experience, as in, ‘Wow, I can’t believe I can get something that good at a fast-food place,'" said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for Carl’s Jr. "We did that with the first sit-down restaurant quality burgers, The Six Dollar Burger, then we did it again with our Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes & Malts, and now we’re doing it with chicken." No matter what the product, saving customers money is always a great way to get them in the door. It is important for franchisees to highlight these deals, especially during times of economic uncertainty.
