Message to franchisees: Get with the program![]() Posted on September 28, 2010 by Franchise Gator Admin What does it take to become a successful franchisee? What are the things that people interested in pursuing the field need to know? Thanks to a recent article by a franchise expert, the complicated industry may have just gotten a bit simpler.Joel Caws, who works in the field, says that one of the most important things for a franchisee to consider is how they want their business run. If a person is not willing to work within a system that has a long record of success, then the world of franchising may not be for them. "The reason for this is that a franchise is successful because it requires adherence to an already proven system," wrote Caws on the Select Your Franchise blog. "To veer off the path and try doing it ‘your own way’ can actually be detrimental to not just your own franchise business, but may also reflect badly on the entire franchise network." While many business owners want to do things on their own, it pays to follow a model. Even though franchising forces the business owner to give up part of his or her creativity, it can often prove to be more profitable than starting a business on one's own.
