![]() Miramar Minuteman Owner does Major Good, just a Stitch at a Time…![]() Posted on July 08, 2010 by Suzanne Musial Farmingdale, NY - Joanne Miner, Minuteman Press owner of the Miramar, FL center has been sewing up some major good deeds, just a stitch at a time. Joanne with the help of the seniors at the Southwest Focal Point Senior Center; have been sewing new clothing for the woman and young girls of Haiti, who were hit by the earthquake that devastated the countries capital, Port-au-Prince, earlier this year. In 2009 Joanne visited Haiti on a mission to help the poor, and was planning on making a return trip when the earthquake struck. She wanted to make an impact on her return visit this June, and decided to make clothing to pay tribute to her best friend's mother, Janie Pinder, a devoted seamstress who passed away earlier in the year. So far forty dresses have been made, and there is still more fabric to be sewn. The dresses "are expertly sewn and have no buttons or zippers that could break," says Miner "I can't wait to see the faces of the mothers when they receive the new clothing". On June 11th Joanne traveled to Haiti to deliver the dresses and skirts. We here at, Minuteman Press, could not be prouder of Joanne for the charitable work she has done, to help the lives of those affected by the earthquake in Haiti. She not only is an exceptional Minuteman owner, but an outstanding person inside and out.
