Mr. Goodcents® Partners With JOCO Sight Impaired Fellowship![]() Posted on April 20, 2010 by Teanna Hart Mr. Goodcents to Raise $17,50suz0 to Save Senior Transportation Program DE SOTO, KS – Mr. Goodcents Foundation is leading the effort to create greater senior mobility and recently announced a partnership with the JOCO Sight Impaired Fellowship, a local organization dedicated to improving the well being of sight impaired senior citizens in Johnson County. Through the partnership, the Mr. Goodcents Foundation founded in 2001 by Mr. Goodcents Subs & Pastas Founder and CEO, Joe Bisogno, to help seniors have greater independence, will be working toward raising money necessary to sustain the JOCO Sight Impaired Fellowship’s transportation. The JOCO (KS) Sight Impaired Fellowship needs $7,500 for 2010 and another $10,000 in 2011 to have transportation for sight impaired senior meetings which meet three times a month. At these meetings, the seniors receive social interaction and great programs on living with sight impairment. \"We are excited to be partnering up with the JOCO Sight Impaired Fellowship and want to show the community that Mr. Goodcents cares and will strive to help the senior community at all cause,\" said Joe Bisogno, Founder and CEO of the Mr. Goodcents Foundation. \"We strongly believe in what the program is doing for the seniors of our community and are happy to have the opportunity to help save a much needed service for those who can go nowhere without a sighted person’s help.\" The mission of the Mr. Goodcents Foundation is to work with communities to create and support solutions that help seniors have access to mobility. Through community partnerships with governmental agencies, nonprofits, for profits, dedicated volunteers and other organizations, the Foundation has begun the journey to make senior mobility a reality in the Kansas City area and beyond. The Foundation recognizes aging happens and brings unique challenges to the freedom and independence one has enjoyed throughout life. \"The JOCO Sight Impaired Fellowship is honored to work with the Mr. Goodcents Foundation and Mr. Goodcents Subs & Pastas, the Foundation’s corporate sponsor, to help save this necessary program for the senior sight impaired community of Johnson County,\" said Bill Prather, the Founder of the JOCO Sight Impaired Fellowship. \"Our meetings are important because they give our members something to look forward to and it helps them avoid loneliness. Through partnerships like these we are able to continue to impact the lives of seniors.\" Bill Prather started the Fellowship after moving from Fort Wayne, IN to Leawood, KS and held the first meeting in February of 2004. Bill, who has been sight impaired for 15 years, was dissatisfied by the lack of program options that were available in Kansas for sight impaired seniors and decided to contact the Church of the Resurrection where he received a room and support to hold meetings for seniors in a similar situation. Since 2004, the Fellowship has grown to approximately 30 members. The meetings are also open to spouses and caregivers of the sight impaired members.
