Multi-unit franchise owners help spread brand

Posted on October 29, 2010 by Stacey Fousse

Franchises can grow by leaps and bounds by when business owners open up more than one location. The franchisees are able to take advantage of their past experiences and hit the ground running in their new locations.

Among the handful of brands with a growing base of multi-unit owners is Koko FitClub. The high-tech franchise had been able to grow at a rapid pace thanks to the rapid increase in the number of unit owners that have opened more than one location. The brand's patented Smartraining technology has been such a hit with consumers that owners of multiple units are expected to rise by 50 percent by the beginning of 2011.

"Our goal is for Koko to be the way people get and stay healthy," the company said in a statement. "When our owners open multiple clubs, it means we are reaching more people and changing more lives. It also validates the success of our business model and that Smartraining, this technology we invented as a health solution for the 84% of people who have given up on gyms, works and members love it."

The franchise recently announced that it had signed a multi-unit agreement with Jeremy and Jenee' Harris in Texas. Under the agreement, the couple will open up franchises in areas in and around suburban Dallas.
