Papa John's remains confident in face of growing competition![]() Posted on August 04, 2010 by Franchise Gator Admin Despite more competitive pricing from other pizza franchises, Papa John's recently said that it remained in a good position overall.Dow Jones reports that while competitors such as Pizza Hut and Domino's have begun offering money-saving deals, the restaurant franchise isn't getting too worried. Papa John's recently ended the popular $10 pizza deal for any large pie that had been going on for the past few months. The company's chief marketing officer was optimistic, saying that he "liked what we see and where we're going." Yet, despite the confident facade, many within the company may be worried. Other pizza franchises have introduced deals that may make it difficult to compete. Both Domino's and Pizza Hut now have two-topping medium pizzas for just $5.99 each, and have made it a priority to advertise them. "We try to avoid the peaks and valleys of boom-bust cycles that make it challenging to deliver consistent returns," Papa John's president and co-chief executive Jude Thompson said Wednesday. Papa John's was in the news recently when Chuck Schnatter announced his retirement from the franchise in order to help expand the Java Brewing coffee chain, the Louisville Business Journal reports.
