SIGN BIZ® ADDS HP LATEX TO THEIR ROSTER IN SUPPORT OF VERSATILITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

HP Relationship Gives Sign Biz Chain More Options

Dana Point, CA – Sign Biz, Inc., founder of the largest non-franchised retail sign chain with a network of nearly 200 store owners, is one of only six entities in the US authorized to offer special incentives to purchasers of HP’s new L25500 latex printer.

\"We appreciate this printer for a number of reasons, just one of which is the \"green\" aspect. This latex printer is utilizing \"Latex\" water-based, environment-friendly inks for vibrant, photo-realistic prints. But beyond that, from a practical standpoint, our business owners are seeking the savings in time and energy – these prints are dry when they emerge, so there is zero waiting, in contrast to the 24 hours needed before laminating solvent or eco-solvent ink prints. In addition, no air scrubbers drawing electrical power, no dealing with harmful VOCs and smell issues,\" explains Paul Strauch, VP Worldwide Product Development for the corporation.

\"Perhaps equally as compelling is the fact you can print on any vinyl, polyester film, polyester fabric, plain old paper, plus any number of PVC-free media,\" adds Strauch. \"Flags are popular, and now there’s no need to outsource.\"

Some added benefits that drew the attention of new Sign Biz shop owners in Maryland were the deep color saturation for lightbox faces, and the ease of use for vehicle wraps. New owners, David and Frida Kurniawan, selected the L25500 after extensive research. David has been in the sign business as a graphic designer and specifier for a number of years. He noted that wall murals produced on HP’s latex printer could be used in locations where eco-solvent and solvent prints could be prohibited, such as hospitals.

HP offers an odor-free, PVC-free alternative for wall murals. This high-performance, flame-retardant wall paper with an ultra-smooth finish provides vivid color and high-definition detail ideal for wall murals, and provides up to 20 years display permanence indoors, away from direct sun. This easy-to-install, strippable pre-pasted wall paper tears off easily and comes with an HP warranty for clean removal. Color consistency is maintained within each panel with bi-directional printing, and across panels with the built in spectrophotometer.

\"HP’s new printer represented some of the best new thinking. It was clear that we had to pursue an opportunity with HP to offer this printer to our Members with special buys.\"

HP Light Textile Display Banner is 100% polyester and may be handled as post-consumer waste. The HP HDPE scrim banner is not only lighter in weight (5.5 oz) but stronger than the traditional 13 oz media. It is also less costly, at .23 cents square foot vs. the average .36 cents. And costs less to transport, based on the weight. These are just a few of the examples of media that this printer accommodates.

"We believe Sign Biz will continue to be on cutting edge when it comes to new offerings in the signage industry. We were the first sign chain to add Large Format Digital Print equipment into our package in the 1990's, as well as the first to build a division for Video Signage in 2005. Our Network will continue to grow via both new shops and new technology in a market that is nowhere near saturation," said Greg Salzano, Sign Biz VP of Business Development.

President and CEO, Teresa M. Young adds, \"This is a huge industry that affords almost limitless niche development -- from wall murals and vehicle wraps, to gorgeous 3-dimensional branding elements and lobby video signs. Our relationship with HP has been strong for many years, but the latex printer offers a new dimension to that.\"
