Teresa M. Young Honored With American Flag Flown Over Nation’s Capitol

Posted on February 01, 2010 by Suzanne Musial

Washington, DC - U.S. Representative John Campbell (CA-48) honored the dedicated work of Sign Biz President/CEO Teresa Young at a March 11th ceremony in which an American flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol in her honor.

This authentic, untarnished American flag that salutes Young and her volunteer efforts on behalf of the on-premise sign industry was then presented to her at the annual International Sign Association Expo in Orlando on March 28th. The accompanying certificate reads as shown right:

The Flag of the United States of America

This is to certify that the accompanying flag was flown over the United States Capitol on March 11, 2008. At the request of the Honorable John Campbell, Member of Congress, this flag was flown for Teresa Young, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sign Biz, Inc., in honor of your efforts as a dedicated volunteer committed to growing and strengthening the on-premise sign industry, in appreciation of the contributions that Sign Biz Inc. has made to California and communities across the country, and in recognition of your eight years of service on the Board of Directors for ISA, including 2007 as Chairwoman.

The certificate is signed by John Campbell, as well as Stephen T. Ayers, AIA, Acting Architect of the Capitol.

Teresa's company, Sign Biz®, Inc., established in 1989, is founder of the largest worldwide chain of independently-owned digital sign & graphics businesses. The respected company provides turnkey equipment, software and education services for its member companies in the digital sign and graphics industry.

"I have been active with ISA since the early 90's, commencing with Bill Deal's term as president of NESA. The demand for our government relations efforts, and our opportunities for partnership as we expand our education and certification programs is a gratifying confirmation of the impact ISA has had in the lives and careers of our members."

Representing over 2,000 member companies worldwide in an industry that accounts for over $20 Billion in annual sales in the USA alone, Teresa was charged with the advocacy of guiding the ISA board of directors to fulfill its mission of improving sign industry professional standards, national, state and local sign codes, health and safety practices, energy cost issues and continuing higher education programs.

You can read her vision and position statement on Page 106 in the January 2007 issue of Signs of the Times Magazine.
