Vet reports for franchise duty

A U.S. Army veteran is finding success in a familiar place - restaurant franchising.

Cornell Irons, who spent 29 years in military service, recently opened up his own Charley's Grilled Subs in Reno, Nevada. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that Irons opened up the franchise in the Meadow Mall, and employs 20 people at the location. Irons, who is originally from Syracuse, New York, said that the he was impressed by Charley's commitment to service members.

"Charley’s deals a lot with military," said Irons in an interview with the paper. "They have many locations at airports and army bases, so through my travels I was able to get Charley’s during some of my assignments. I’m a firm believer that if you’re going to get into business, you have to believe in the product,"

Other Charley's Grilled Subs in Nevada have been in headlines recently. A location at the Carson Mall was designated as a drop-off location for a charity to help soldiers overseas, the Nevada Appeal reports.
