With good research, franchise opportunities help get small businesses off the ground![]() Posted on August 06, 2010 by Franchise Gator Admin Starting a new business can seem daunting, which is why a franchise is often a great opportunity. Purchasing a franchise can mean stepping in with a recognizable brand and business model, according to the Main Street Business Journal.Given the large number of franchises available in almost every industry, research is key to achieving success. The MSB Journal recommends that potential franchisees look at the market, competition and sales figures. The Small Business Association has pre-approved many franchises, which opens up more avenues for start-up financing, according to the Journal. But research shouldnt stop there. The paper recommends finding franchise owners in the selected field and getting first-hand accounts of their experiences. The Small Business Jobs & Credit Act proposal in the U.S. Senate, having already cleared the House of Representatives, could make more capital available to small businesses, as well as offer tax breaks to try to offset the economic downtown. However, lawmakers are still debating the bill and how best to aid small businesses. President Barack Obama recently called small business the backbone of the economy, and said the bill proposing tax breaks and opening up credit lines for small business was as American as apple pie.
