A First for Philly: Marguerite Barnett and Kristin Parris Open First Maui Wowi Hawaiian Café Franchise In Philadelphia
Local Owners Deliver ‘Aloha Spirit’ to Customers at the Edge PHILADELPHIA- (BUSINESS WIRE) - Marguerite Barnett and Kristin Parris have opened a new franchise location of Maui Wowi® Hawaiian Coffees & Smoothies in Philadelphia, PA. The 895 square foot café will celebrate its grand opening beginning February 5. This is the first and only Maui Wowi Hawaiian store in the Philadelphia area. Maui Wowi at The Edge is located at 1601 North 15th Street, Suite 3A, behind the Pearl Theater and nestled between Oxford Street and Cecil B. Moore Ave. Its location adjacent to the Temple University campus is perfectly positioned to offer university students, staff, and visitors as well as local commuters an authentic “taste of the Islands.” The new store is open every day from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and early risers will appreciate the variety of Kona-blend coffees and fresh-baked pastries. Known for its fresh-fruit smoothies, exclusive Hawaiian coffees, and unique Hawaiian merchandise, Maui Wowi Hawaiian is now importing top-selling items from Hawaiian farms and bakers — items that before now could only be purchased online or in Hawaii. Kristin Parris, a Temple University Medical School graduate (1990), and Maggie Barnett, both Philadelphia residents, share a background in healthcare. Parris is an attending physician at Temple University Hospital, and Barnett’s background is in nursing with a history on the corporate side of healthcare. They’ve teamed up to bring Aloha Spirit to their customers, providing a mini Hawaiian vacation in every cup. “We take great pride in sharing the pleasures of true Hawaii,” said Barnett, who is originally from the islands. “The Aloha Spirit isn’t just an attitude – it’s a way of life that embraces the values of harmony and balanced living. We love the genuine Hawaiian products and the Maui Wowi business model. This is a perfect fit for us to meet both our business and personal goals.” About Maui Wowi Hawaiian Maui Wowi Hawaiian is the only franchise that offers authentic, natural Hawaiian products, fresh-fruit smoothies, blended Hawaiian coffee beverages, and genuine Hawaiian lifestyle stuff. Founded in 1983, Maui Wowi Hawaiian has experienced meteoric growth to include nearly 500 franchised units in its worldwide franchise “Ohana,” or family. This earth-friendly company celebrates its Aloha Spirit by embracing the values of family, harmony and balanced living while striving to abide by the principles of sustainable living.
