Batteries Plus™ Appoints VP of Marketing - Gears Up for Rayovac™ Alliance, International Franchising

Hartland, WI – Batteries Plus®, the nation’s largest chain focused on the $22 billion battery category serving both retail and commercial customers, announced it has promoted Cathleen Stewart to Vice-President of Marketing. At the Vice-President level, Stewart, who previously served as marketing and advertising director, becomes an official member of the growing chain’s executive team.

“Promoting Cathleen to Vice-President of Marketing was a natural step in developing and expanding our marketing capabilities,“ said Russ Reynolds, Batteries Plus CEO. “Her ability to see things from the perspective of the consumer, as well as through the eyes of our commercial customers, has ultimately strengthened our brand and aided in our growth.”

In her new role, Stewart will be integral the Rayovac® licensing program, as well as managing the Batteries Plus identity as the Company expands into international franchising. Earlier this year, Batteries Plus announced an alliance with Spectrum Brands, the parent company of Rayovac, a $2.5 billion global consumer products company and one of the largest battery, shaving and grooming, and lighting companies in the world. Through the alliance, Rayovac has licensed16 different battery product categories to Batteries Plus, including batteries to power common electronic devices such as cellular phones, camcorders, cordless tools, cordless phones, PDAs, MP3 players, two-way radios, and laptop computers, among others.

Stewart will continue to focus significant time and energy towards growing Batteries Plus’ market share, brand awareness, and other key metrics used to define an organization’s success through the Company’s rapidly expanding domestic store network..

“I’m honored to have a seat at the table of the highest level of strategic planning and execution for the company,” Stewart said. “I look forward to providing the company with the necessary bend toward the customer and their needs. By having a presence on the executive team, I can ensure that we continue to talk ‘outside in’ instead of ‘inside out’ -- an approach that’s positive for our franchise owners who are looking to expand Batteries Plus awareness, and subsequently, drive more customers through their doors.”

Prior to joining Batteries Plus, Stewart was the marketing director for Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, and was responsible for the entertainment, promotions, special events, direct marketing, players club, high rollers, advertising, and bus tours. From 1999 back to 1987 she worked at various advertising agencies (Eichenbaum & Associations; Focus Media; Meyer & Wallis; and McDonald Davis).
