Firkin To Re-Open San Antonio Pub

Posted on December 03, 2006 by Ginger Watford

Firkin & Bull to Serve As U.S. Corporate Training Location

Toronto, —The Firkin Group of Pubs, the largest English pub chain in North America, announced today their plans to re-open their San Antonio pub, the Firkin & Bull, and use it as their U.S. corporate training facility. The Firkin & Bull will re-open mid December.

Restmark Management, who formerly owned the Firkin & Bull, recently decided to go in a different direction from the pub business. Their decision gave the Firkin Group of Pubs the opportunity to buy the pub back and continue business in the San Antonio market.

“The Firkin Group of Pubs believes in this location so much that we are taking it over as a corporate store,” says Firkin’s Marketing Director, Larry Isaacs. “It’s a great location, great store and we are looking forward to having it open again.”

When the Firkin & Bull opened this past summer, it was the first Firkin pub to venture into Texas. The Firkin & Phoenix, in Houston, will be the second and 21 more pubs are currently in development.

The Firkin Group of Pubs is one of the most popular neighborhood pub chains in Canada and recently captured the title of the largest and fastest growing pub chain in the United States. Serving spectacular food in a friendly, authentic pub atmosphere, Firkin Pubs draw families, students and professionals alike.

Firkin has open pubs in five states Michigan, New York, Illinois, Texas, Virginia, Florida and 32 open pubs in Ontario. They also have another 200 currently in development throughout North America.

The Firkin & Bull can be found at 17776 Blanco Road, San Antonio, TX.

About Firkin:
Stanley Adelson and Ian Fisher opened the first pub, Fox and Firkin, in Toronto in May 1987. It was the idea of a traditional English neighborhood pub – where people could enjoy good drink and food in good company – that quickly built a stable of regulars. Selections range from a variety of beverages and delicious meals including: traditional English pub fare like fish and chips, burgers, sandwiches, as well as a selection of entrée dishes such as New York strip steak, roasted chicken, fresh fish and salads and—of course—a wide assortment of draft beers on tap and in the bottle. There are currently 39 units open in North America and 150 pubs in development in the United States.
