GARBAGE LOOKS GOOD IN GREEN

First female business owner of College Hunks Hauling Junk is setting a new trend in trash removal by recycling and donating the unwanted items rather than dumping them in landfills.

Granada Hills, CA – Claudia Avedikian, mother of two and the first female owner of College Hunks Hauling Junk, is cleaning up the Los Angeles County area by changing the way we look at trash. Claudia has implemented a “remove and recycle” program that is unusual for a private trash hauling company. Her company donates the unwanted items to Goodwill Industries and Salvation Army, and also environmentally transports old computer equipment, metal and broken appliances to be recycled at the local scrap yard.

Avedikian recognized the demand for junk removal services in the southern part of California, and launched a trash removal company with a twist- an emphasis on a clean and green image. The “College Hunks Hauling Junk” concept provides Los Angeles area residents with a fun solution to regaining their space. “I knew there was a need for this service, but I wanted to put forth a clean image with an emphasis on recycling.

Claudia is not concerned about being the first female to own junk removal company called College Hunks Hauling Junk, which is a typically male-dominated industry. “I have no problem cracking the whip if need be, and I can be more effective when it comes to hiring the Hunks,” jokes Claudia. “I plan to utilize my connections with the area non-profits and recycling centers to ensure that the items we remove are not ending up in landfills.”

ABOUT COLLEGE HUNKS HAULING JUNK

The College Hunks Hauling Junk concept started when former high school classmates Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman began hauling junk using their mom’s cargo van. The company has since transformed from a temporary summer gig into a million-dollar enterprise.

Over 60% of the jobs are residential, and many of the customers are women desperately battling packrat husbands, which is no coincidence this “Junk Hunk” brand is so popular.  Customers can book their junk removal appointments online as well as vote for the “Hunk of the Semester” in the company’s “Hunk ‘Haul’ of Fame.” A portion of company revenue is donated to college scholarship programs
