"Manny & Olga's Pizza to compete in the 2008 International Pizza Challenge"

Silver Spring, Md ––Manny & Olga’s Pizza will be competing against 70 other pizzerias at the  2008 International Pizza Challenge.  The event will be held on April 1-3, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The winner will receive recognition as the Best Traditional Pizza in the World.

About The 2008 International Pizza Challenge

All 70 entries to the competition must adhere to the ingredient regulations set by the Challenge Committee. These stipulations include that a red sauce must be used on your signature dough with your favorite cheese/cheese blend and your favorite spices.  No more than five (5) of the following toppings can be used:   Pepperoni, Sausage, Bacon, Ham, Mushrooms, Peppers, Tomatoes, Onions and Olives. Contestants will provide their own selection of ingredients that they deem are necessary to make what they consider to be their best traditional pizza.  An independent panels of judges will select the winner of the Best Traditional Pizza in the World.

Contestants will be categorized into Regional Divisions with a winner emerging from each region – North, South, East, West, Midwest, Mideast and Foreign.  Depending on the number of entries, some regions may have more than one division.  The preliminary round of competition will be held on Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2.  Regional Winners will be announced at the World Pizza Games® Finals and Rockin’ Party on Wednesday evening and will compete in the International Pizza Challenge™ Finals on Thursday, April 3.  Representing Manny & Olga’s Pizza is Bobby Athanasakis.
