New Public Relations Campaign a Hit To Get Customers Into Your Store!
We have partnered with USA Cares, a Kentucky-based charity serving military service personnel, to help bring relief to our troops serving overseas.
Called "Operation Slugger II," this program seeks donations from the public of new and gently used sporting goods equipment for our troops overseas. These items will help bring relief, in a fun way, to the stresses they face everyday in protecting our freedom.
The following press release will be issued this week to media outlets around your store. If you receive a call from a reporter, we want you to be informed of what the program is all about.
In summary, here's how the program works:
A press release is issued to media outlets around your store inviting the public to bring donations of new or gently used sporting goods equipment to your store for dropoff. So the start date is now.
You keep the items stored until September 22nd.
Around September 22nd, you box up your donations and have them ready for pickup.
USA Cares will arrange for DHL to pickup your donations and ship them to their warehouse in Kentucky for a consolidated shipment to the military.

Goal Is To Collect Over 20 Tons Nationwide
In partnership with USA Cares, (CFC# 12359) a not for profit charity benefiting military Service Members and their families, the local PostalAnnex+ (or Sunshine Pack & Ship) store located at (street address) is helping to collect new and gently used sporting equipment for U.S. military troops serving overseas.
"In 2005, over 13 tons of sporting equipment was sent to our servicemen and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan," said <owner's name>, owner of the local PostalAnnex+ (or Sunshine Pack & Ship) in <your city name>. This year, USA Cares has a goal of sending over 20 tons, and we're excited to be part of this program."
The equipment, ranging from baseball gloves to volleyballs, provides a morale boost to servicemen and women by providing a break from the challenges they face every day. The following is a list of suggested items to donate to Operation Slugger II:
· Softball/Baseball gloves (right and left-handed)!
· Bats (wood & aluminum)
· Baseball hats (must be new, corporate logos are encouraged along with notes of encouragement)
· Softballs
· Basketballs with nets (no backboards)
· Footballs
· Volleyballs and nets (no poles)
· Frisbees, NERF products, Hacky Sacs
· Hand air pumps with needles for basketballs and footballs
Again, donations are requested for either new or gently used equipment. Donors may bring the equipment in to the <Your City Name> PostalAnnex+ (or Sunshine Pack & Ship) through Saturday, September 22, 2007.
"We're calling on schools, PTA's, civic organizations and other local businesses to help us get the word out. We need sports equipment for our troops!"
