Texan Spreads Family Tradition with New Dickeys Barbecue Pit in Lawrence

Sam Kafoure grew up in Dallas where Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has been a family tradition since 1941.  He knew Dickey’s Barbecue would be a big hit in his new home. On Thursday, December 11 at 11 a.m., Kafoure brings a Texas tradition to Lawrence when he opens his second Dickey’s Barbecue location. To celebrate, he’s hosting a three day grand opening celebration where the first 50 guests receive gift cards worth up to $50.

“I grew up eating Dickey’s Barbecue in Dallas and I knew when I moved to Kansas that Dickey’s family friendly environment and great home cooking would be a natural fit for the area,” said multi-unit owner, Sam Kafoure. “We can’t wait to serve up our slow smoked barbecue to the folks in Lawrence.”
