This April, Perry took the plunge from his career with the US Air Force and went into business for himself, opening a unique junk removal service in Dallas called 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. Perry’s business provides a full service recycling and junk removal option that will take away everything from old furniture to appliances and recycle and donate them within the community.
Following graduation from the United States Air Force Academy, Perry spent 35 years serving his country in the US Air Force. During his exceptional time in service Perry, achieved numerous accomplishments including: promotion to the rank of Major General, Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio, and an Air Force pilot with over 3300 hours flying time.
Upon retirement Perry was confronted with unbinding possibilities, but where most retired flag officers take jobs with defense corporations who make them Vice Presidents or Executive VP’s, Lamy opted to take radically different path and become a small business owner.
“Starting a business means risking my reputation, my life savings and commit to long days and nights of “roll-up-your-sleeves” work; but, it’s my dream and destiny…I wouldn’t trade a minute of it.”
The business concept was conceived last fall after considering small business options. Following some initial research and study, he discovered that this business is much more than junk removal; it is about customer service, quality, following a system, training and motivating good employees, using metrics to measure performance and planning for future business, and being part of a dynamic team with a vision. It was also about providing a premium and empathetic service, while building a respected and admired business.
The initial intrigue led Perry to spend the next few months researching the business and the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise opportunity.
