Wireless Toyz founder named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 Central Great Lakes Award Recipient![]() Posted on June 20, 2007 by FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Wireless Toyz today announced that Chairman and Founder Joe Barbat was one of nine individuals to receive the “2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year” award in the Central Great Lakes region. Winner in the business services category, the award recognizes Barbat’s accomplishments building a multi-million dollar wireless retail franchise with more than 190 stores in 23 states. Central Great Lakes Region award winners are eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 17, 2007. Recipients of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award are part of an elite group that has demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Previous Central Great Lakes winners who have received recognition at the overall national award include Fred Bauer, Gentex Corporation and former Governor of Michigan James Blanchard. These regional recipients join other national winners including Michael Dell of Dell Computers, Inc. and Pierre Omidyar of eBay, Inc. Entries were judged by entrepreneurs and prominent leaders from academia, business and the media.
