Subway Expects 25,000 More Jobs for 2012![]() Posted on January 12, 2012 by Ben Baggett Subway Restaurants opened more than 2,400 outlets worldwide last year, adding an estimated 24,000 food-service positions to the workforce. The company has now set the goal of opening another 2,500 outlets in 2012, adding another 25,000 full-time and part-time workers. These estimates do not include positions such as: logistics, manufacturing, maintenance, construction, or food processing. Subway's Chief Development Officer, Don Fertman, believes the chain in more about the opportunities than it is the numbers. "With each new restaurant that opens, there is an entrepreneur that wants to own and operate his own small business" and provide for the community. Entrepreneur Magazine's annual list, the Franchise 500, ranked Subway as the #2 franchise opportunity, #2 fastest growing, and #2 global franchise. In 2011, Zagat's ranked Subway as their #1 in Top Service, Healthy Options and Most Popular in the food brands category. Subway has continued their growth by taking advantage of non-traditional spaces, those spaces or buildings that other companies look past. These spaces are often smaller than normal and some consider them "impractical". Some of the non-traditional locations used are: train stations, lobbies, movies theaters, factories, and convenience stores.
