London’s YO! Sushi to Open Washington D.C. Location![]() Posted on February 06, 2012 by Ben Baggett YO! Sushi, a London-based sushi franchise, has just announced the opening of its first U.S. franchise in Washington, D.C in May 2012 (Union Station). The first franchisee signed with YO! Sushi in 2011. Overall, the company hopes to continue growth from 2011 and add approximately 30 units before the end of 2012. The first franchisee is multi-unit/multi-concept in Washington, D.C. Alison Vickers, YO! Sushi's Business Development Director is quoted saying: "We are pursuing opportunities with similar franchisees in markets like Miami and Boston, and hope to continue growing through large multi-unit deals in major metropolitan areas across the U.S." Vickers believes the Yo! Sushi concept is a perfect match for the Washington, D.C. area and she thinks Americans will "really enjoy the delicious and healthy food" the company offers. Yo! Sushi started a "sushi revolution" in London in 1997 by using a "kaiten" sushi bar concept. This concept allowed customers instant access to sushi from a conveyor belt that travels around customers as they dine. Sushi rolls, salads, and hot/cold dishes are served on price/color-coded dishes via the conveyor belt. Yo! Sushi is still searching for experienced multi-unit franchisees. The company is expecting to have 12 locations open and operating by the end of 2013.
