![]() Age-Appropriate Curriculums Allow Children to Excel at Their Own Pace![]() Posted on August 18, 2011 by Melissa Lim With dual-income families becoming the norm, rather than the exception, child care programs, starting as early as 6-months, are becoming an everyday part of the American family dynamic. While many of these programs typify your basic daycare, the programs and institutions that are seeing tremendous growth and widespread adoption are those that focus on education in addition to supervision. This early education is crucial for a child's development, as recent studies show that 85 percent of a child's core brain structure is formed by the age of three. Bill Endres, Chief Operations Office for Kiddie Academy, recognizes the great importance of child education at early ages, but wisely puts an emphasis on age-appropriate learning, noting that "each child learns and grows at their own pace." Age-appropriate curriculums have the distinct advantage of accommodating a child's needs, while preparing the children to become "school ready" and better prepared for the real world. Endres suggests that parents evaluating early education programs should keep an eye out for environments with constant stimulation, plenty of social interaction and child-teach bonding as well as a diverse curriculum, including language, social studies, science, math and creative arts.
