Three-Day Exemption to Exhibit Their Franchise at the June 2012 International Franchise Expo![]() Posted on January 10, 2012 by Jessica Dees Unregistered Franchisors Can Apply to the Office of the New York State Attorney General for a Three-Day Exemption to Exhibit Their Franchise at the June 2012 International Franchise Expo (IFE) in New York The New York Attorney General's Office has agreed to allow franchise companies to apply for a three-day exemption from registration, allowing the franchisors to showcase their brand at The International Franchise Expo (IFE), to be held June 15-17 at the Javits Center in New York City. The exemption form is available through the Attorney General's Website, and requires a $450 fee. While the sale of a franchise is still prohibited for non-registered franchisors, this exemption gives such companies the opportunity to showcase their franchise and promote their business model to a prime audience of franchise enthusiasts and entrepreneurs. "We are thrilled that the opportunity is now extended to so many new businesses," said Tom Portesy, President & CEO of MFV Expositions, producers of the show. "Not only will franchising be front and center in New York by moving the expo to Manhattan this year, but the Attorney General's office has made it easier to get involved as an exhibitor." The exemption should enable many more franchisors to get involved in the expo, further contributing to the franchise industry, which now employs more than 20 million Americans, accounting for over $2 trillion in U.S. economic activity.
