Griswold Franchisee’s Andrew and Heather Hefflinger share what went into their decision to invest with the leading in-home senior care franchise Griswold Special Care. They discuss the incredible franchise support they’ve receive and how rewarding the experience has been since and how much they enjoy .

Andrew Hefflinger: Why we chose to be a Griswold Franchise. Well, I had looked at about eight other opportunities and there were several things that we found with Griswold that were appealing. Primarily, that they were focused on care and not selling franchises as a business model. We found that the Griswold philosophy worked with us.

Heather being a nurse, I think, saw the advantages of their system as well. I had a life-changing event by shutting down four plants in Pennsylvania, laid off a thousand people. It’s time to do something different than Corporate America. We took a leap of faith.

Heather Hefflinger: We felt like the philosophy that Griswold had about affordability and then treating your caregivers with the utmost respect and paying them better, really meshed with our philosophy.

We have found that, as we market this business, that’s what the referral sources want to hear and see, and that’s what the clients and families want as well. We feel we made the right decision. We said that to a client just yesterday.

Andrew Hefflinger: Territories are larger. The people are genuine and there are some really experience at the headquarters. We saw it first hand. We did about four discovery days. So, head and shoulders above.

Heather Hefflinger: They vetted us as carefully as we are trained to vet the caregivers. We actually appreciated that this company interviewed us extensively, did background checks on us, and checked our references.

Andrew Hefflinger: Oh, yeah. That was a lot of fun.

Heather Hefflinger: [Laughs] High-caliber people at corporate, very high.

Andrew Hefflinger: I see the client really being a family unit most times. What we see when we walk in and provide the level of care that we have and the compassion that we demonstrate. We just watch the relief pour out of families and people. We see them cry in front of us. It’s just an amazing thing.

We think they appreciate the fact that we’re there. A lot of times, it’s in a moment of crisis and we can help.
