Why is children's education such a great industry to start a business in today?
Parents want what's best for their kids. Parents will always pay for extracurricular activities, camp and birthday party services. Schools also need proper after school and in-school programs to fill curriculum gaps. Science and extracurricular programs are being cut while quality after school programs have become increasingly popular with parents.
What trends do you see in your industry over the next 5 years? Next 10 years?
STEM education has become very big lately. In recent years, there has been a lack of importance placed on STEM programs throughout the US, but by simply changing the current perception of science, we can solve this dilemma.
Why do you think Professor Egghead stands out in the industry?
We offer REAL Science and Engineering. We teach keywords, fundamentals, principals, etc. There is NO fluff. We make science fun!
Describe the working environment of your franchisees (indoors, home office, mobile, etc). Is your environment typical of other companies in your industry?
The typical working environment for our franchisees is similar to other companies in our industry. Professor Egghead is a mobile, home-based franchise. A franchisee may be able to work from home or they may opt to rent a small office space but most franchisees will start out by working from a home based office.
How much experience in this industry should a franchisee candidate have should they consider buying a franchise in your industry?
You don't need a lot of experience in our industry. It's more on the person then the industry. We work with kids, so obviously you have to enjoy working with kids. You have to be friendly, personable, and outgoing. If you have a science background, that's nice, but not necessary.
Describe your ideal candidate:
We are looking for Franchise owners who are friendly and outgoing. They should be motivated to succeed, are honest, organized, responsible, and have a strong work ethic. Any prior business experience is preferred but not required. The candidate should be able to lead a team and get along with others. Since this is a children's service franchise, being able to work with kids is a must.
