History

Signarama, founded in 1986 by Ray and Roy Titus in Farmingdale, NY, began franchising in late 1987 with opening an additional pilot store in North Palm Beach, FL. Today, all Signarama locations are independently owned and operated.

How was your franchise/opportunity originally conceived and started?

The company was started in 1986 in Farmingdale, NY by father/son team Roy and Ray Titus.

What was your original vision for your company? How has that changed over time?

The original vision of the company was to fill the vacuum in the signage service sector in New York. Over time, we have grown into the largest sign franchise in the world. We influence the marketplace and our competitors through our goals every day. Our number one goal is to provide unmatched service and support to our clients by constantly striving to maximize their entrepreneurial potential.

What do you believe is the single most important factor when choosing a franchise?

The single most important factor when choosing a franchise is the support system provided by the franchisor. SIGNARAMA is considered a leader in franchise support. We're looking for franchise owners who are outgoing, open-minded, and teachable. Sales and marketing skills are a plus but are not mandatory due to our extensive training program. Other essential ingredients of a successful franchise owner include the desire to run your own business and enjoy working with people.  A person who can lead a team and who has the motivation to excel in a creative and fun environment! You will need the ability to train and manage sales staff and follow a sales process.  Working with partners and vendors and networking will also be important to building your business.
