Q&A with the BBQ Cleaner's Jeffrey Krentzman

How was The BBQ Cleaner originally conceived and started?

It was started in the United Kingdom in 1994 and has since expanded across to globe, landing here in the United States in 2005. We started offering the opportunity to people in other markets across the country in 2009 and already have over 65 locations nationwide and some of which operate multiple units within their locations. We've seen the system now expand also to 200 other locations globally.

What was your original vision The BBQ Cleaner? How has that changed over time?

Our vision has always been since day 1 to allow people to successful run their own business out of their homes, set their own schedule and control their financial future. We're happy to say that vision today remains  the same.

What do you believe is the single most important factor when choosing a franchise?

We are not a franchise. Franchises charge royalties. We are a business opportunity. It would not be fair for us to charge a royalty to our authorized technician for on-going support because they really don't need it because the operation is simple to learn, so we support provide for free.

Why should someone choose The BBQ Cleaner over other similar franchises?

Our offering has been a success nationally and around the world. There are no ongoing fees at all so you keep everything you make from the moment you start up. We also provide free support and have a proven efficient profitable cleaning process as demonstrated by all of our locations globally.. We also  guide you through the start up phase and show you how to maintain your business once you are up and running.

What makes your industry attractive?

It is a needed service that homeowners nationwide use and since we are the only proven opportunity out there for prospective candidates, it's made us a logical fit for so many people since we started offering this exciting opportunity.

What types of qualities do you look for in potential franchisees?

We only select people who are driven to succeed, want to be successful and are looking to work from their homes and set their own schedule.

Why has your franchise model been successful?

It's been successful because the total package people receive has been tried and tested around the world since 1994. Our operators provide a service people need and are willing to use multiple times. By guiding people through every step along the way and giving them the blueprint to follow, it's been fairly simple for get up and running and realize their dream of running their own successful profitable business.

Where do you see The BBQ Cleaner in 5 years and 10 years?

We'll continue to help people across the United States live the dream of getting started with their own business. And we'll also continue to support our existing operations as we always do. We help them continue to grow their business into multiple unit locations to keep up with the demand that have generated as others have.

What is your favorite advice for new franchisees to help them succeed?

Work hard. You are your own boss so you need to push yourself. If you have the drive and the desire to be successful, your possibilities are endless with an opportunity like this.

What would you tell potential franchisees that may be nervous about the financial burdens of starting a franchise?

We've seen the concept work for years so there have been people in your situation who have gotten started and now are thankful everyday they did so. Since the cost of the business is so low, most people make back their investment quickly. Having to pay absolutely no on-going fees and royalties is a critical component as to why our operators have been able to make the type of money they have.

On average, how long does it take to start a new The BBQ Cleaner from the franchisees point of view?

We're able to get people up and running within 3 months.

What was your background and experience before founding The BBQ Cleaner?

Sales and Marketing

Do you have any franchisee testimonials or success stories that you would like to share?

"The kit and trailer have everything you need to get started. The manual is easy to follow and has great pictures to show you what you need to do. Once you learn the cleaning process, it is easy to follow. The biggest satisfaction is when you are done cleaning a grill. You never get tired of people saying how great their grill looks after you are finished."

Kevin Chavez, Acme Grill Cleaning, Phoenix AZ

"Within four days of running my first advertisement, I was booked up for weeks in advance. This has gone better than I ever dreamed it could. You and your company were just as presentedprofessional, responsive and more importantly GENIUNE. You did what you said you will do and you're there for us whenever we need you.  We can't ask for more."

Steve Koffler, Desert BBQ Cleaning, Palm Desert, CA

"This really is a great turnkey operation for a home based business.  There were no surprises starting up, everything happened exactly as promised. The cleaning process itself is easy to learn. The support I've gotten, both in terms of the written instructions in the manual, and when needed, phone support, has been outstanding.

My customers are absolutely amazed at how nice their grill looks and cooks after a cleaning.in my first two months, I was already getting repeat bookings. People just love the results and the service!"

Steve Adams, Backyard BBQ Grill Company, St. Charles, MO

" I thought the training manual was very in depth, detailed and contains plenty of resourceful information. As this is my first time starting a business, you guys have made it so much easier for me. I was amazed at how simple the cleaning process is and what great results it gets. My enthusiasm for this business is sky high and with the earning potential, anyone in my shoes would be excited."

Robert Andrade, Island BBQ Lab, Kihei, HI

"The onsite training has given me the insight to go forward with my business and make it successful quicker than if had I tried it alone. What the best advantage of the onsite training is being able to be led through the cleaning process both on the grill and the usage of the equipment. It just takes the guess work out of it. What I have learned has given me the confidence to completely clean grills that would please any client."
