Provide an overview / description of your industry.  

The Professional Lawn Care Industry offers a wealth of advantages over other service type businesses and landscape firms including residual income, graduated growth year to year, year around income potential, many profit centers, and low startup cost compared to other industries.

How has your industry changed in the last 10 years?  20 years? 

Technology!!! Must have digital platform capability for marketing, new, safer low usage products, and production equipment that makes our industry less labor intense.

What trends do you see in your industry over the next 5 years?  Next 10 years? 

The lawn care industry will continue to use technology for growth. Regulation may become more of an issue. Freedom Lawns is positioned well in this area due to our Turf management philosophy.

What is the biggest concern about your industry that a franchisee candidate should be aware of and investigate? 

The industry is competitive in some markets. Although, the licenses and expertise required does eliminate many potential competitors.   

Why do you think your company stands out in the industry? 

Freedom Lawns has demonstrated the highest level of professionalism, dedication the a sound, effective service program, and unique marketing strategies. 

What makes your franchise / business opportunity more attractive than competitors. 

I believe that we dedicate more time to training and support and our unique approach to professional lawn care makes the difference.

Describe the ideal candidate. Do you think your requirements are any different than your competitor’s? 

We have become more selective with our franchise candidates over the years. We want to be 100% sure that the business model and franchise system is a perfect match for all. We view a franchisee-franchisor as a partnership, both working toward the same goals.

What’s the strongest skill you require in a candidate?  

Dedication to their business.

Describe the working environment of your franchisees. Is your environment typical of other companies in your industry? 

Initially, a franchise owners may wear many hats. Much of the time is outdoors doing production, making sales, etc. There is also some office work involved. Very similar to most in our industry.

What advice would you give someone interested in buying a franchise in your industry?  

Talk to current franchise owners to find out their experience, and investigate the history of closed franchises or turnovers a franchisor has had.

How much experience in this industry should a franchisee candidate have should they consider buying a franchise in your industry? 

Most of our franchise owners had little to no experience. We love to teach and train those with or without some prior experience.
