I'm Howie Felixbrod, CEO and founder of Blue Moon Mexican Café. I've been in the restaurant business most of my life and fulfilled a dream when I started this company over 20 years ago in the very tough and unforgiving New York City market. Encouraged by our success there we have since expanded our company stores to include 5 suburban locations in Northern NJ and Westchester County NY. Over those years I have learned, from the ups and downs what it takes to be successful. In 2005 I began working with the IFranchise Group to get ready to take the next step in the Blue Moon story and in November of 2006 we awarded our first franchise.

I am very proud that each of our restaurants focuses on what I call the "neighborhood" concept- each Blue Moon Mexican Cafe becomes an important part of their community by building and maintaining lasting relationships with their customers. Over the years I've learned that a great restaurant is not just a place to go and have a meal, a great restaurant is a place where people meet and let go of the day…a place where families dine happily together, and for friends to put aside their everyday worries, all while dining on exceptional food and drink. Our team at Blue Moon has developed unique and creative marketing ideas. For instance we host "community nights" where local churches, temples, schools, and other non-profit organizations can get together, enjoy a meal, and raise money through a 20% give back program. Some participants of our Blue Moon "community nights" have included Habitat for Humanity, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and the American Red Cross.

We've looked at our numbers and have done some comparisons. What we found out is that our sales per square foot and cost of goods are better than some of the best-known restaurant chains in the country. There are several reasons for this: One is that we have an extremely high percentage repeat business, many customers come back 3,4 times a week! Those are our favorites! Also, our concept allows you to dramatically increase revenue by expanding your sales beyond the four walls. I always say, "We can seat 80 inside, but why not feed the thousands outside."

Every restaurant has a way of operating or a "system." From ordering the ingredients, to following recipes, to service procedures. Numbers

Okay if you've come this far you probably want to know the nuts and bolts of owning a Blue Moon Mexican Cafe franchise…

We begin with a $40,000 franchise fee. This money helps pay for the extensive training, pre -opening support and onsite support after operations begin. It's likely to cost you between $350,000 and $450,000 to open a standard sized Blue Moon. These amounts can vary depending on location and costs of government licensing.

The next step is finding a location.

You can accomplish this by either purchasing an existing restaurant and converting it or re-fitting an existing storefront.

Once you're up and running we collect a 5% royalty for the use of our brand name, menu, recipes, ongoing support, and the tried and true operating systems I've been describing to you. As well, access to our management staff is only a phone call away.

There is also a 1% contribution to a regional advertising fund that provides us with the ability to give you on-going promotional support in your territory.
