In 2002, Kim and Jerrill Rice launched Mimi Blinds & Shutters California. "Within three years, they have become one of the top shop-at-home window covering franchise locations in America!"

In early 2005, the Mimi product offering was expanded to include closet, garage and home office organization systems. The name has also been modified to Mimi Home Solutions, reflecting the new additions to the Mimi product line.
