The Green Microgym provides a comfortable and effective workout space that also strives to be self-sustaining. We have developed an environment wherein we can reduce our total carbon emissions by 60% while still maintaining a first-rate, state-of-the-art gym facility that provides our members with a great workout experience.

Some of the ways we achieve our goal of sustainability and reduced emissions:

• Energy-producing grid-tied cardio equipment (ellipticals and stationary bikes) from Re:Source Fitness
• Treadmills that use 30% less electricity than regular models
• Member-controlled lights, televisions, and fans that are turned on only when needed
• No bottled water sales; encourage use of refillable steel water bottles
• Use all natural, non-VOC cleaning supplies and hand soap
• Paper products (toilet tissue, paper towels, etc.) are all recycled paper
• Eco-friendly building construction materials wherever possible
• Solar panels installed on the building, if possible

A workout is a terrible thing to waste.

There are lots of great gyms out there. Some of them have every machine imaginable. Some have heated lap pools. Some have banks of TVs covering every wall. Some are open all day and all night. But what none of these gyms offer is a more meaningful way to work out.

The Green Microgym offers its members a completely green gym with a friendly, community feel. We are right in your neighborhood so you can bike or walk here. The most unique thing about our gym is that the actual energy of the members helps power the building. It makes pretty good sense. You don't need energy-sucking machines to get a good workout. We are machines. You power your workout. The energy bar one member just ate powers the ceiling fan for the next three hours. Another member's morning coffee is doing its part to keep the lights on. Every revolution on the elliptical is churning pure electricity back to the grid. Lowly calories are converted into precious watts. You power your gym. Friends and neighbors, sweating it out together, all in the name of feeling good. About themselves, about their community, about their gym and about the world.
