Army Veteran Ken Klose Brings The Nation’s Premier ‘Learn to Swim’ Provider to Southern Florida

Naples. FL – (May 9, 2023) - British Swim School, the nation’s leading “learn to swim” franchise company, continues to expand its reach in the Sunshine State with the opening of its new location in Naples. Classes will be held at 999 Trail Terrace Drive in Naples on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday beginning May 9th.

The new location is owned and operated by native Floridian Ken Klose. Klose, an Army veteran, most recently spent several years working for the Federal Bureau of Investigations. When he made the decision to leave the FBI, Klose and his wife were searching for new opportunities in Florida. Having had his two children enrolled in British Swim School lessons, Klose recognized a need for swim safety instruction in his family’s new home in Naples.

"We're not just teaching children to swim; we're building a lifelong love of the water," Klose said. "Our year-round program and indoor heated pool ensure that our students are equipped with the skills needed for water acclimation, water survival, and stroke development."

For more than 40 years, British Swim School has been dedicated to teaching water survival skills by teaching infants, children, and adults of all ages the skills needed for water acclimation, water survival, and stroke development. Its mission — ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer.

Across the nation, 11 people die every day from unintentional drownings, with nearly 4,000 deaths occurring each year. Research shows that participation in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning. However, the risk of drowning isn’t limited to children: a Red Cross survey found that more than half of all Americans (54%) either can’t swim or don’t have the basic swimming skills needed to save themselves in the event of a water emergency.

Klose said that he plans to expand their operations next year with the opening of a new location in Sarasota as well. He also hopes to be able to offer lessons for children with special abilities in the future.

“We’re happy to welcome Ken and his family into the British Swim School family,” said Ashley Gundlach, President of British Swim School. “Ken and his wife saw firsthand with their own children how critical proper swim safety knowledge. We’re looking forward to him expanding our motto of ‘Survival of the Littlest’ in Naples.”
